My Brother’s Keeper is a homeless shelter in Flint that provides a meal, a bed and a devotional time for men in need. We have the privilege of serving God as we serve these men for an evening by preparing a meal, leading a devotional worship service with them, and eating and visiting with them afterward. You can choose to be involved on the third Friday of each month in a variety of ways including set-up, food preparation, serving, visiting, clean-up and worship. There is a sign-up sheet and more information in the church Café.
Family Promise of Genesee County has built a network of local congregations and volunteers to provide shelter and service to homeless families; and to keep them together in times of crisis. They assist families during temporary periods of homelessness, encourage them to create an achievable vision and to develop a strong foundation for self-sufficiency.
NewLife Community Lutheran has joined this effort by making our church available to feed and house families in need for a one-week period each quarter.
You can sign up to help during our host week in many different areas including overnight hosts, food preparation, dinner hosts, and evening hosts.
Please see the Mission Board in the cafe to sign up!
