Bradley Yops, Lead Pastor
Dr. Yops has been involved in mission plants throughout his ministerial life, beginning with his first mission status church upon graduating from Concordia Theological Seminary, to his most recent missional endeavor in Flint: Franklin Avenue Mission.
Dr. Yops has a degree in architecture from Lawrence Technological University and has studied at The University of Michigan in their Urban Design program. Ten years into this profession, he sensed God calling him into the ministry and has since earned a Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary. He has continued his studies in missiology and has received his PhD in said field. He is the founding pastor and architect of the church he pastors at present, NewLife Community Lutheran Church in Swartz Creek. He is currently mission director of Franklin Avenue Mission, a “remissioned” Lutheran church, in one of the more impoverished and violent areas of our country – Flint’s Eastside. Using the tools of his previous profession with that of his Missiological experience, he has crafted, along with 10 other Lutheran congregations, a rebrand of the churches’ identity in Flint.
